New and improved SpringSource maintenance policy

posted Wednesday, 8 October 2008

I was pleased to read that SpringSource have revised their maintenance policy. They are going to continue to regularly make binary releases from the trunk: "For each version of Spring, community releases will be available while it remains the trunk or until the next version is stable." Although this isn't as generous as the original policy I think it reflects a pretty reasonable balance between the needs of the community and the need for SpringSource to be a commercial success.

That blog entry also mentions that SpringSource will have a support offering for small businesses. Since I run a small business and many of my clients are small businesses I am looking forward to hearing the details.
